That sound that golf fans keep hearing is the drip…drip…drip…of the LIV Golf slowly flowing down the drain.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neill didn’t give a clear message Tuesday when asked about the Golf League’s final four tournaments in 2026. He declined to guarantee that LIV Golf would finish the year, telling CNBC that the league needs to trust that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund will continue to fund the league through the remainder of the season.

Front Office Sports reported last week that LIV Golf’s funding could be depleted before then, citing an executive at one of the league’s partner companies as saying “all remaining tournaments are in jeopardy.”

O’Neill continues to praise the PIF, which announced in April that it would cease funding at the end of this season. LIV co-founder Yasir Al-Rumayan stepped down as chairman on April 29, and the next day the tour announced it would reorganize its board of directors and seek long-term investors.

“I would say they’ve been a great partner so far,” O’Neill said. “And you have to take a great organization like PIF at its word. They’ve been very public about funding us all season. So we’re moving full steam ahead. The players are locked in, the management is locked in.”

Crushers GC’s Bryson DeChambeau, Charles Howell III, Anirban Lahiri and Travis Smith celebrate after winning the team title at the 2026 LIV Golf Korea.

O’Neill told CNBC that he has held five public meetings to discuss interest in funding the organization and has 18 more scheduled this week. He said the response has been “positive” and he hopes to wrap up the fundraiser this summer.
