Nottingham Forest reject Man City’s £120m offer for Elliott Anderson

Manchester City, whose bid had already been rejected, launched an improved verbal offer to tempt Forest.

Fabrizio Romano and others report that the effective bid is a guaranteed upfront payment of £106m, with potential add-ons totaling more than £120m.

However, Nottingham Forest immediately rejected the offer, demanding a fixed fee of more than £120m guaranteed from the start, rather than relying on add-ons.

Man City set to break transfer record with signing Anderson

Despite the setback, Manchester City remain committed to completing the transfer.

High-level discussions indicate that Citi is not far from meeting its valuation and is expected to return to the negotiating table soon.

New manager Enzo Maresca is reported to have identified the England international as a central figure in his tactical plans.

While City are actively pursuing a deal, they have also kept their options open by keeping Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali on their shortlist.

Forest’s firm stance is reinforced by his strong awareness of concrete interest from Manchester United, allowing him to dictate a premium price.

If this deal crosses the line at Forest’s requested valuation, Anderson will feel comfortable rewriting history.

The fixed cost of more than £120m would exceed Enzo Fernandes’ £121m move to Chelsea and Florian Wirtz’s £116.5m move to Liverpool.

This puts Anderson second on the Premier League’s all-time transfer list, behind record-breaking Alexander Isak’s £125m move to Liverpool in 2025.

He would also become the most expensive British player of all time. The current record is held by Declan Rice, who completed his £105m move from West Ham to Arsenal in 2023.
