Manchester United are interested in signing Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Sky Sports, they will be monitoring the 21-year-old defender and could consider a move if the opportunity arises.
Manchester United could use Lewis Hall
Tyrell Malasia is set to leave the club this summer, while Luke Shaw’s contract expires next summer. They need to invest in a talented young left-back and Hall could be the ideal signing for them.
He is highly regarded in the Premier League and has proven his quality at Newcastle. There is no doubt that he has the ability to play for a bigger club. The opportunity to play for Manchester United would be attractive for the young defender.
But he is an important player for Newcastle and they won’t want to lose him too soon. They are looking to assemble an ambitious team that regularly competes in Europe and fights for trophies. Selling one of their best young players would send the wrong message about their ambitions.
It would be reasonable to think that Manchester United may have to make an exorbitant offer to persuade Newcastle.
Manchester United need a player like Hall.
Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on Arsenal and Manchester City this summer. They have qualified for next season’s Champions League and will be fighting for the trophy next year. Adding a quality left-back this summer could be ideal. If moving everyone doesn’t materialize, it will be interesting to see if they move to other targets.
The paper also claims that Manchester United could make a move for Fulham defender Anthony Robinson. He has also performed well in the Premier League and would be a more experienced option.
