Rangers head coach Danny Rolle has agreed a deal to take over the vacant vacancy at RB Salzburg, with Hearts manager Derek McInnes the favorite to replace the German at Ibrox.

Rangers’ board publicly backed Rohr after four straight league defeats ended their title challenge and sparked doubts about the German among fans.

The former Sheffield Wednesday manager has led Rangers back into contention for the William Hill Premiership title after a slow start to the season under Russell Martin.

However, the collapse of the team after the split, including two cup defeats to Martin O’Neill’s Celtic, meant that Rolle needed to prove himself to the Rangers support.

Rohr has previously worked at the Red Bull stable, starting his coaching career at RB Leipzig under Ralf Rangnick and working as assistant to Ralf Hasenhüttl.

Manager Fabrizio Romano revealed at the weekend that Gers have almost secured his replacement and that “the deal is done” and all that remains to be done is complete the formalities.

McInnes, who was a Rangers supporter as a boy, turned down the chance to manage the Ibrox club in 2017 when he was Aberdeen manager.

The 54-year-old has been at Hearts for just over a year after joining from Kilmarnock, something he has been linked with being made redundant by Gers last October.

The majority of Rangers’ squad are due to report for pre-season on June 22nd, with the Premiership campaign starting on the first weekend of August.

Lawrence Shankland has already moved from Tynecastle this summer, and McInnes may not be the last signing.

Rangers aim to sign Hearts star Bulaga

Indeed, Football Fancast sources understand that McInnes is keen to bring Claudio Braga to Ibrox to fend off rival interest from Celtic.

The Hoops have been linked with Braga for months and the incoming manager wants to deal a blow to both Rangers’ title contenders by snatching the Portuguese attacker from their doorstep.

It would be a significant statement of intent for the Gers if they were able to steal one of their rivals’ best players from another, but his acquisition won’t come cheap.

Hearts rejected an offer of around £5 million for their star player in January, and there are speculations that they will demand a transfer fee of between £8 million and £10 million to release him this summer.

Rangers’ all-time record fee is £12m, but there are reasons to believe the 26-year-old is worth rowing the boat.

Bulaga has played in almost every attacking position on the pitch for Hearts this season, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists, including up front, on both wings and as a number 10 behind the strikers.
