The 2026 U.S. Open is set to begin as a major event on Thursday, June 18th at Sinek Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York. Rory McIlroy (Masters) and Aaron Rye (PGA Championship) are the first two major winners of the year, and both will play in the 2026 U.S. Open. JJ Spawn is the defending U.S. Open champion, and Brooks Koepka won the tournament the last time the U.S. Open was held at Sinek Hills in 2018.

Scottie Scheffler, looking to complete a career Grand Slam, is a +550 favorite for the 2026 U.S. Open according to FanDuel Sportsbook. McIlroy is +1200 to win his first US Open in 15 years, with Koepka (+2500), Spawn (+6500) and Rye (+1000) all long shots. 2026 US Open Predictions

One of the big surprises this model is conjuring for the 2026 US Open is +2000 Xander Schauffele stumbling and finishing outside the top five. He’s the golfer who fades into the best bet at the U.S. Open. Schauffele is just two years removed from his second major league season in 2024. His only win since then came at the 2025 Bay Current Classic against a relatively weak field. He’s also finished T12 or worse in three of his last four tournaments, so this model doesn’t exactly sit well with him against this packed 2026 U.S. Open field, especially considering he hasn’t finished in the top five in any of his past five U.S. Open starts. See who else will be fading out here.

Another surprise is that Ludvig Aberg (+2200) is 10-0 in his major career and is a top-three prospect on the projected leaderboard despite missing out on last year’s U.S. Open. Aberg has been on a roll this spring, finishing in the top 10 in six of seven tournaments, from the Arnold Palmer Invitational to the PGA Championship. He ranks second on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained and has also been exceptional off the tee, ranking second in total driving strokes gained and 12th in average driving distance.
