Ben Jacobs talks about Roberto De Zerbi’s summer rebuilding plans
Speaking about Spurs’ plans on Last Word On Spurs, Jacobs explained that central defense remains one of the club’s biggest priorities.
“The central defense is going to be really big. I know there are questions about Luka Vusković and Cristian Romero, so you can talk about individual players, but obviously the addition of a centre-back is huge and there are ongoing negotiations for Jan-Paul van Hecke at Brighton.
“They still need to find a solution for their central midfielder, deep midfielder João Parinha. Negotiations are ongoing to see if a solution can be found outside of the acquisition option. Other midfielders are also being considered, including Alex Scott.”
“A starting left-winger has been on the list since last summer and obviously if Rashford leaves I think Dom Solanke will stay, so they will also need a number nine.
“So basically you’re going to have four, five or six starters or first-team players playing in different positions. So it’s going to be a busy summer. On top of that, by the way, Senesi is already coming in at centre-back and Andy Robertson will obviously be joining us at left-back as well.”
Jan-Paul van Hecke, Joao Parinha, wingers are key targets
Jacobs says Brighton defender Jan-Paul van Hecke remains a priority target as Tottenham look to strengthen their defensive core.
The club are also in talks for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Parinha, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott also emerging as a player under consideration.
Moving forward, Tottenham remain in the market for a starting left winger, a position they have been actively looking to strengthen since last summer.
The possibility of signing another striker has also been raised, with Spurs potentially looking for more firepower depending on the development of their current attacking options.
Jacobs also revealed that Spurs are “very likely” to sign a new goalkeeper, with PSG’s Lucas Chevalier a top target.
Spurs could be a team to watch next season under manager De Zerbi
Tottenham could emerge as one of the Premier League’s most interesting teams next season under manager De Zerbi, with significant support expected from the club hierarchy.

The Italian has built a reputation for practicing an aggressive, possession-based style centered on high pressing and fluidity of position.
If Spurs can successfully complete deals for key targets such as Van Hecke and Parinha while adding further quality in the wide and attacking areas, they could quickly turn into genuine contenders for a European place.
A busy summer seems inevitable, and Tottenham’s performance in the transfer window may ultimately decide how quickly De Zerbi is able to get the club back into the top flight of the Premier League.
