Hurricane vs. Panthers: Scores, Schedules, and Odds — How Carolina Can Dodge Elimination in Game 4

The Florida Panthers showcased their offensive firepower by scoring five or more goals in each of the first three games of the Eastern Conference Finals. However, in Game 4, the Carolina Hurricanes responded with a strong defensive performance, shutting out the Panthers 3-0 to stave off elimination.

At 10:45 into the second period, the Hurricanes struck to take the lead they sought. Logan Stankoven, a key figure in the Mikko Rantanen trade, sped down the wing after a pass from Alexander Niku and scored, marking the Hurricanes’ first lead of the series. This goal helped goalie Frederik Andersen, who was back in net after being replaced in Game 3, to deliver a flawless 20-save shutout. Andersen’s shutout was his second in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs, having previously blanked the Washington Capitals 4-0 in Round Two.

While the Hurricanes seemed to extend their lead in the third period with a slick backhand pass from Eric Robinson to veteran Mark Jankovsky, the goal was disallowed due to an offside call on Robinson. Despite this, Carolina sealed their win with empty-net goals by Sebastian Aho and Jordan Stahl.

This victory signified the Hurricanes’ first Eastern Conference Finals win since Game 7 in 2006, snapping a 15-game losing streak in the conference finals. The win also came with a sense of historical significance, as it relates back to a pivotal goal by current head coach Rod Brind’Amour in their previous breakthrough.

The Eastern Conference Finals schedule continues as follows, with games airing on TNT and truTV:
– Game 5: Wednesday, May 28 at 8 PM
– Game 6: Friday, May 30 at 8 PM
– Game 7: Sunday, June 1 at 8 PM

Odds from DraftKings show the Panthers as strong favorites with -1000 series odds, while the Hurricanes hold +650 underdog status. Game 5 odds are close, with Panthers at -115 and Hurricanes at -105.

Fan Take: This game was a crucial turning point, showing that the Hurricanes can compete fiercely on defense against a powerhouse Panthers offense. For hockey fans, this adds intensity and unpredictability to the series, making the remaining games must-watch events with potential to reshape the Eastern Conference Finals landscape.
