Tottenham’s transfer window has been the talk of the summer as Roberto De Zerbi continues his ambitious rebuild ahead of his first full season in charge.

The north London club took another leap forward this week when they agreed a £52m deal with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.

The Dutch international has reportedly revealed his desire to move to Tottenham and is expected to be one of the players to watch this summer.

His arrival, which follows the additions of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, gives De Zerbi some important defensive reinforcements for a relatively small cost.

Attention is now beginning to shift to the next stage of Tottenham’s reinforcement plans.

One of the biggest stories surrounding the club concerns the ambitious transfer of Newcastle star Sandro Tonali.

Spurs have identified the 26-year-old as a priority target and are preparing to begin inter-club negotiations over a possible move to Newcastle (head coach Fabrizio Romano).

The Spurs’ momentum is not slowing down.

Signing a player of his caliber would be a huge statement of intent from Tottenham.

According to reports, the club also remain interested in Man City winger Sabinho, with some seeing the Brazilian attacker as an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s attacking philosophy.

Those pursuits underline the scale of Tottenham’s ambitions.

However, while the club continues to pursue potential signings, it is also fighting to get maximum value from one of its most exciting young players.

Tottenham reject Brighton’s second bid for Luka Vuskovic

Tottenham have rejected a second offer from Brighton for teenage defender Luka Vuskovic, with the bid said to be worth around £35m, according to David Ornstein.

Despite Brighton’s persistence, Spurs have made it clear they are not prepared to sell at that valuation, with Sky Sports recently suggesting it could cost nearly double that amount.

De Zerbi’s side appear to value Vuskovic at around £60m, meaning the Seagulls will have to significantly increase their offer.

The decision highlighted how highly regarded Vusković is within the club.

The Croatian teenager is widely regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in European football and has just completed an incredible loan spell at Hamburg, where he was named in this season’s Bundesliga squad.

Brighton are among those who believe his potential is huge.

The Seagulls initially sought a deal earlier in the window before returning an improved offer, but that second bid was also rejected, so it remains to be seen whether Brighton will return.

Interestingly, Vusković’s future was sometimes discussed alongside negotiations involving Van Hecke.

Brighton were rumored to be interested in finding a creative solution during negotiations between the two clubs. But Ornstein’s report makes clear that these situations are being treated separately.

Tottenham are not going to let the ‘exceptional’ Vuskovic leave just because they have signed Van Hecke.
