The third major championship of the golf season has arrived, with the 126th U.S. Open being held at Sinek Hills over Father’s Day weekend.

This is the sixth time the Southampton, New York, club has hosted the tournament, the first being the second U.S. Open Championship in 1896. This course is a notoriously difficult test for the world’s top golfers. Of the four U.S. Opens held at Sinekook in modern times, only Retief Goossen (-4) won in 2004 with a score higher than 1 under.
The most recent U.S. Open winner was Brooks Koepka (+1) in 2018, and this week he will be looking to win his first major since the 2023 PGA Championship. His best finish in a major since then was a tie for 12th at last year’s U.S. Open at Oakmont, where J.J. Spahn won his first major title.
You never know what you’re going to get at the U.S. Open, but the usual suspects are favored going into the tournament. That list starts with Scottie Scheffler, who is looking to complete a career Grand Slam with a win this week, and also includes Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
