The Premier League giants made an aggressive bid to sign Europe’s most coveted young attacker, but the Reds are being forced to reassess their strategy after the Bundesliga club shut down talks.

Liverpool receive a shocking 100 million euros for Yann Diomande

Liverpool have made a shocking €100m offer for Yann Diomande, as confirmed by Sky Sports reporter Philippe Hinze.

The carefully structured package consists of an upfront fee of 90 million euros and a guaranteed performance-related additional cost of 10 million euros.

Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola has admitted the Ivorian young sensation is the perfect ultimate successor to Mohamed Salah, who bid farewell to Anfield at the end of last season.

The Reds have already engaged in productive background negotiations regarding the player’s personal terms and do not expect any problems to arise on Diomande’s side if they are successful in brokering a deal with his parent club.

The blockbuster bid was quickly rejected by RB Leipzig, as first reported by Sky Sports and later reiterated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Leipzig are keen to keep the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year at the Red Bull Arena for at least another season and are already planning to offer the teenager an improved contract with a significant salary increase.

As things stand, a valuation of €90 million plus €10 million is considered to be entirely insufficient to force a sale.

Leipzig seek transfer fee of nearly 120 million euros following threat from PSG

According to a report in newspaper Romano, Leipzig are settling for a fee much closer to 120 million euros after their initial approach was rejected.

The German club believe his rating could rise further depending on his continued performance with Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup.

Furthermore, Leipzig fully expect French champions PSG and other European heavyweights to cross paths in a multi-club bidding war, although the French giants have yet to submit a formal offer.

Can Liverpool break their transfer record again?

This bold pursuit has left many wondering if Liverpool are ready to break the transfer record again.

Following the recent big signings of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, pledging a teenager to a contract worth over €100m would be a remarkable gesture.

This kind of pursuit is very unlike Liverpool, but last summer under manager Richard Hughes they broke the transfer record twice.

Sky Germany reports that the Reds are not backing down and intend to return soon with an improved offer to test Leipzig’s resolve.
