The greatest female tennis player of all time will continue her spectacular comeback at Wimbledon. Serena Williams announced earlier this month that she would be competing in the doubles tournament with her sister Venus, but the 23-time singles Grand Slam champion will not only be reuniting with her sister in the doubles tournament.

Wimbledon revealed on Sunday that she would also receive a wildcard berth into the singles tournament.

Williams surprised her Return to competitive tennis At the HSBC Championship earlier this month, she and Victoria Mboko won their first match, but Mboko suffered an injury in singles and was forced to withdraw, ending Williams’ comeback sooner than she had hoped. She then paired up with Karolina Muchova at the Berlin Tennis Open, but lost in the first round.

Williams has not played in a Grand Slam singles tournament since the 2022 US Open, reaching the third round in her last one, but after feeling clearly good in two tune-up tournaments in doubles, the 44-year-old is ready to challenge for Wimbledon’s singles and doubles ties. Williams is already preparing for his return in London, taking the opportunity to show his daughters Olympia and Adira around the places he once ruled.

Williams has won the Wimbledon singles title seven times, her last win being the Venus Rosewater Dish in 2016. He has also won six doubles tournaments, most recently in 2016 (his last doubles appearance was in London). She reached the singles finals in 2018 and 2019, but failed to make it past the first round on her previous two trips to the All England Lawn and Tennis Club in 2021 and 2022, and has since drifted away from her type.
