Big changes are planned for the PGA Tour in 2028, but when will the schedule be announced?
The Tour announced everything Tuesday from a two-track system to a new standard of 90 Tour cards, Match Play in the Tour Championship and the end of sponsor exemptions. From now on, there will be a Championship Series and a Challenger Series, with a relegation and promotion system between the two. Further details, including which events will end in which series and specific schedules, will be announced at a later date.

When will the PGA Tour’s 2028 schedule be announced?
PGA Tour CEO Lorup said the tour has 10 of its 15 regular-season Championship Series events scheduled for 2028. The remaining five slots will be filled by existing events or new markets.
“We look forward to announcing these events soon and expect to announce the full Championship Series schedule in the first quarter of next year. During this process, we will provide updates as elements are finalized, including press conferences at the Tour Championship and pre- and post-board press conferences scheduled for September and November,” Rolup said.
The first PGA Tour event of the 2027 season will be held from January 21-24 at the American Express in La Quinta, California. The schedule is expected to be released in the first quarter, and the tour is likely to release its schedule ahead of next year’s Players Championship.

Lollup said the tour will continue to work through the intricate details of its schedule over the coming months, but expects many changes from the PGA Tour as we know it now.
