Tottenham are aiming to revamp their goalkeeping department this summer and have made a move to sign Argentine shot-stopper Geronimo Lulli.

The Luiz family vowed to rebuild trust in a letter to Tottenham fans this summer and revealed plans to support manager Roberto De Zerbi.

“That means football comes first and our board and executive team have developed a plan to achieve this goal.

“This will require investment in our team, our academy and our backroom capabilities, but we are fully committed to this.

reliability

The report on Ruri comes from TyC Sports, one of the largest television networks covering sports in South America. With Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave the club, a move to bring in a proven, high-level player between the sticks makes sense. This means Lulli will be competing with Antonin Kinski for the number one role, with the experienced Martin Dubravka acting as the third option.

finances

A move for Lulli would be well within Tottenham’s financial resources and would allow them to spend significant amounts of money in other positions. The 34-year-old is valued at just £7.4m by Marseille and his contract expires in 2027, meaning he would have little negotiating power if the French side decide to sign him for cash this summer.

insight

The obvious link between Lulli and Tottenham is manager De Zerbi. The Argentine was the Spurs manager’s clear first choice throughout his time at Marseille, making 60 appearances in two seasons. However, they only kept 11 clean sheets in those games.

impact

Lulli’s arrival will put a nail in the coffin for Vicario’s Spurs career. He fell out of favor at times last season, struggled with injuries and was constantly linked with a move to Inter Milan.

“We are not selling the club. We are fully committed. We are investing in the club. We will find out more in the coming months.”

They moved quickly to secure the signings of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, and have since added experienced goalkeeper Dubravka to their ranks.

Tottenham approach Lulli

Argentine broadcaster TyC Sport say Boca Juniors are concerned that their bid for Lulli could be jeopardized after Tottenham began their own transfer campaign.

The report, translated by Sport Witness, claims that Spurs have submitted an inquiry to sign the Marseille player, creating an obstacle for the South American team.

Marseille are set to cash in at £7.4m, which is exactly the amount Spurs are looking to make a position of having just signed Kinski to a new deal.

Kinski deserves the number one spot.

Tottenham might not even be in the Premier League if it wasn’t for Kinski, who made a dramatic save in the draw against Leeds and the win over Wolves.

The 23-year-old has gone from being an outcast under Igor Tudor to a hero under De Zerbi. His lavish new contract is just as well deserved as it is De Zerbi’s chance to cement his place as number one.

The manager praised the youngster’s ability to bounce back after his brilliant moment against Leeds.

“He played for Madrid and he made that mistake, but it was tough for him. He has a great personality and a strong personality and deserves to play like he did today.”

Lulli therefore looks like the perfect replacement for Vicario, acting as the perfect link between the manager he played under for two years and the young goalkeeper who is still learning what it takes to start at the top level.

The 34-year-old, who has eight caps for Argentina and won the Europa League with Villarreal, looks like a shrewd and astute addition who could brighten up Kinski and free up the bulk of the club’s transfer funds for a move like Matheus Fernandes.
