  • Ferguson’s green light: Rangers take action
  • Rangers should break Ferguson’s transfer record
        • Why Rangers should sign McInnes £4.3m star contract rather than Luke Graham

Rangers have been given a boost towards signing Scotland international Lewis Ferguson as they officially begin the Derek McInnes era with the signing of Ross McCrorie.

Gers are clearly a team that means business this summer. They quickly got down to business, signing Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland and then also signing manager MacInnes to ruffle a few feathers in Scotland.

Since then, the arrival of McCrorie to replace James Tavanier has further strengthened Ben Godfrey’s defensive ranks, with the potential for even more impressive players to emerge.

Football Fancast Verdict

reliability

The latest information comes from Team Talk, who claim Ferguson is open to a move to Rangers. It is certainly realistic that he would like to move to Ibrox given his family links to the club. The move also makes sense from Gers’ point of view, given that Nico Raskin could leave the club this summer.

finances

This deal won’t come cheap, and the Rangers know it. Bologna have reported that Ferguson will be worth around £15m this summer, potentially breaking their transfer record. The 49ers weren’t afraid to spend last year, but it remains to be seen whether they can reach their £15m target.

insight

Despite Scotland’s early exit, Ferguson won plenty of praise in North America this summer. Rhian Crichton told BBC Sport: “He’s had some really strong tournaments so far so you can clearly see his quality.”

impact

The 26-year-old is a fantastic box-to-box player and signing for Ibrox this summer would be a statement. Rangers should absolutely break the club record and sign McInnes if they choose him as the man to lead their new homegrown backbone.

Rangers may decide to press ahead with the chase now that they know the details, and the boost of Ferguson’s verdict should certainly be a big help.

Ferguson’s green light: Rangers take action

TeamTalk reports that Ferguson has given the green light to join Rangers this summer, with Ibrox bosses currently preparing to hold talks for the Bologna midfielder.

The Italian club are reportedly seeking up to €17m (£15m) to sell the Scottish star, which would clearly break the Gers’ current transfer record.

Rangers also believe Ferguson’s family history should help lure him to Ibrox. The midfielder’s father Derek played for the club and his uncle Barry remains one of the most respected captains in the club’s history.

Rangers should break Ferguson’s transfer record

A summer statement from Rangers. They have already done damage to Hearts, robbing them of their captain and then their manager. Now they can strengthen their financial strength by signing Ferguson and, in the process, ease the pressure on Nicholas Raskin’s future.

There have always been rumors of a transfer for the Belgian, and it is Rangers who are panicking as a result. Ferguson’s arrival will put an end to that panic, as the Bolognese man is an equal successor.

The figures show how far Ruskin could be off at Ibrox, but they also show what Ferguson can offer. The Bologna star, who was described as “fantastic” by former Scotland manager Steve Clarke, has been on par with the Belgian since possession last season, which will be crucial under McInnes, although his achievements have been modest.

Rangers are reportedly interested in signing a better defender than Luke Graham.
