Liverpool could still be in the running to sign Yann Diomande, according to a surprising transfer update published in today’s X.
A post from our team of journalists states:A Liverpool source sent us the following:
“PSG may be the frontrunners to sign Yann Diomande, but don’t rule out Liverpool just yet. That’s what I’ve heard.” @LFC This does not mean that they have completely withdrawn from negotiations. They are still participating and monitoring the situation closely.
“If PSG can’t get a deal done, Liverpool are ready to pounce. Liverpool officials are in France to meet with some high-profile agents.”

The new development follows a report in The Athletic that Paris Saint-Germain are the player’s clear preference this summer.
What do you think about Yann Diomande’s transfer story?
To be clear, if we’re comparing sources here, there’s really no conflict. The Athletic, and David Ornstein in particular, have a great record of reporting on the transfer market, so their information could be very solid.
However, Ornstein himself recently posted that things could change quickly as Liverpool appear to be in a favorable position for Diomande.
And this source posted today has been credited by Ornstein before, albeit less consistent overall in terms of always being on point, and has significantly broken some big articles.
Diomand to Liverpool may still be alive to some extent, as transfers are rarely easy and circumstances can change many times before the story is concluded.
However, the most likely scenario is without a doubt that the talented young Ivorian international heads to PSG.

The 19-year-old impressed in the Bundesliga with Leipzig last season and would be a great addition to back-to-back Champions League-winning manager Luis Enrique.
However, LFC are in dire need of a replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah, so they could try to hijack this deal if possible.
However, the Reds may have to move on to other targets and it will be interesting to see if Diomand’s arrival at the Parc des Princes ultimately makes Bradley Barcola available.
