Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Tottenham’s recent exclusive interest in Liverpool forward Codi Gakpo.
It was reported a few weeks ago that Spurs were keen on signing Gakpo, and while things may not have progressed yet, Romano has also spoken about the matter.
Tottenham have already signed Matheus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, as well as Sandro Tonali, so they have had a quick start to the summer.

Fabrizio Romano talks about Tottenham’s interest in Codi Gakpo
The Italian journalist said in a post on his YouTube channel today: “Keep an eye on Tottenham as they are interested in Kodi Gakpo.
“As of today, at the beginning of July, I can say that Liverpool have not opened the door to exit. So at the moment, Liverpool have not said to Gakpo, ‘Okay, you can leave,’ and they have not said to Tottenham, ‘Okay, let’s negotiate.’ This is not happening right now.”
“So the door is closed from Liverpool at the moment. But we’ll have to see later this summer whether Tottenham send in a proposal and actually start negotiations. At the moment, that’s an interest. If they do send in a proposal, we’ll have to see what happens there.”
“So ultimately it’s a story to watch. It’s not guaranteed at this stage.”

Kodi Gakpo information
Last we heard from Gakpo, an offer from Tottenham was on the table. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to know exactly when something more concrete will materialize from there.
We’re not aware that Gakpo is on the verge of leaving, but he hasn’t been at his best at Anfield and hasn’t secured a regular starting spot, so THFC may have some confidence in poaching him from Anfield.
The Dutch international could do well to get a fresh start at Spurs and help them continue their ambitious rebuilding project this summer.
Romano seems cautious so far, but the fact that he mentions the association with Gakpo means it’s pretty specific, so we remain confident in what sources have told us previously about this. A move is expected in the near future.
