  • Marcus Rashford’s situation takes a new turn
  • Why Manchester United shouldn’t rush into this decision

Marcus Rashford has revealed his Manchester United future will have to wait until after the World Cup, with the forward fully focused on England’s challenge for glory.

This quote, provided by Fabrizio Romano, comes at an interesting time for United.

Rashford returned to the club after Barcelona decided not to activate the buy option on his loan deal, leaving his long-term future uncertain once again.

Rashford said of his situation:

“I was very clear… I wanted any move to be done before the World Cup. If not, I wanted it to wait until later. I want to be fully present in the moment.”

He added: “We are fighting for something special.”

That message is important for Manchester United. According to TEAMtalk, United have been in direct contact with Rashford’s team and are open to having him rejoin Michael Carrick’s side for pre-season.

Marcus Rashford’s situation takes a new turn

This is a big change from the situation under Ruben Amorim, when Rashford looked far removed from the first-team image.

Now that Carrick has taken over as manager, United appear ready to give the 28-year-old a chance to return.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Rashford had wanted to make a move before the World Cup, but that didn’t happen and he has chosen to focus completely on England.

That’s probably the right decision. As England prepare for a big knockout clash against Mexico, Rashford knows a strong performance at the World Cup could strengthen his position, whether he stays at Old Trafford or attracts a new offer.

Why Manchester United shouldn’t rush into this decision

Manchester United should leave the door open to sign Rashford. If Carrick believes he can find motivation and confidence again, he still has a very useful player in there.

United need a range of options, pace and goals. Rashford can provide all three if he is sharp. But the club also needs clarity.

We can’t let another season distract from his future.

The wisest approach is simple. Let Rashford finish the World Cup, bring him back for negotiations and then make a calm decision.

A sale could still happen, but a proper comeback for United no longer feels impossible.
