Manchester United are reportedly close to finalizing everything for Ederson’s transfer, but he still needs to undergo the second stage of a medical check.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been in the works for about a month and all the documents are in place and awaiting signature.

BBC Sport previously reported that Man United had agreed a £35m deal with Atalanta for Ederson, and Romano answered some fans’ questions about the delay in posting updates to his YouTube channel.

“There are a lot of questions as to why Manchester United haven’t officially committed Ederson yet. We have a verbal agreement with Atlanta, so both clubs have been in agreement for a month now, but we are waiting for Ederson to undergo the second part of his medical at Manchester United in England before signing everything off,” Romano said.
“The verbal agreement, the documents between the clubs are in place, the first part is the medical check, but we are waiting for the second medical check, the official medical check with Manchester United. So Ederson is not yet officially announced to Manchester United and we have to wait for these measures.”

United fans will be hoping that this situation continues and there are no surprises late in the game. It’s probably unlikely, but it can’t be completely ruled out.
Manchester United continue to sign midfielders
Ederson probably won’t be United’s only midfield signing this summer, with transfer rumors continuing with other big names.
Sky Sports could look at two names that could follow Ederson to Old Trafford, as MUFC have been linked with two exciting targets in Aurélien Choameny and Alex Scott.
Ederson could serve as a replacement for the departing Casemiro, but United would also do well to upgrade Manuel Ugarte.
