France winger Bradley Barcola has been criticized for his “quiet” performance in the World Cup match against Paraguay.

The 23-year-old didn’t see much of the ball and couldn’t do much to affect things when he did have it, but that ultimately led to him coming on as a substitute inside the hour mark and being replaced by Desir Douet, who quickly improved.

Barcola, a huge Reds fan, is thought to be Liverpool’s top target this summer, but with his club Paris Saint-Germain in a favorable position to sign Yann Diomand, Barcola could be made available to them.

Fabrizio Romano has recently linked Barcola with both Liverpool and Arsenal, casting some doubt over his PSG future…

LFC and AFC fans will no doubt be keeping an eye on Barcola’s performance at this World Cup, but it would be an understatement to say that Barcola failed to impress against Paraguay.

Bradley Barcola criticizes ‘quiet’ performance

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock was one of the pundits who accused Barcora of below-average performance.

“Barcora needs to be more involved in the game. He was quiet in the first half and didn’t really have much of an impact,” Warnock said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

Meanwhile, see below. The Telegraph’s Sam Dean also noted Barcola’s underwhelming performance with just 23 touches in the first half…

Although Barcora has not always been a regular for PSG, he has managed to maintain his place in the French squad so far, but he clearly needs to improve if he is to remain in manager Didier Deschamps’ starting XI.

Based on tonight’s game, Barcola can still improve and may not be the answer Liverpool and Arsenal are looking for in attack.
