Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle are preparing to sign Manzambi

“If we talk about the players who will be participating in the World Cup, we must also mention Manzambi, a very talented player from Switzerland,” Romano said.

“He contributed five goals, scored, provided an assist and is one of the most interesting talents to emerge at the 2026 World Cup.

“What I can say is that Newcastle are preparing the first official bid. They have already had some contact with the player’s side in the last few weeks. Newcastle have already scouted the player.”

“Freiburg will require significant funds so it won’t be a cheap deal, but Newcastle love signing players from Germany. And amazingly, they achieved that when they finished[Nick]Woltemaid within 24 hours, they achieved that when they finished Bazoumana Toure within 24 hours, and now they are trying to do the same with Freiburg’s Manzambi.”

Manchester United are also rumored to be linked with Manzambi.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are also mentioned as suitors for Manzambi, according to a report in the Daily Mail, which also stated that Newcastle had been informed that they were at the front of the queue.

The Red Devils could also strengthen their midfield this summer, so it will be interesting to see if they can enter before NUFC.

But for now, Romano’s update sounds encouraging for Newcastle as they look to bounce back from the early disappointment of losing two key players in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali at the start of this transfer window.
