  • Liverpool have genuine interest in Dutch player
  • Reds shouldn’t overpay for an in-demand winger

Liverpool’s search for a new wide attacker could see them return to Crisencio Somerville, with the West Ham winger set to be one of the most discussed names in the summer window.

The Dutch forward has attracted interest following an excellent season and strong showing at the 2026 World Cup, with West Ham currently valuing him at around £50m.

This asking price is significant as the Hammers are not expected to let one of their most exciting players leave cheaply, even after being relegated to the Championship.

The Guardian reports that Fulham have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Somerville, but TEAMtalk claim United have a concrete interest.

Liverpool have genuine interest in Dutch player

This was revealed by a person close to the agent industry. catch off side Liverpool are said to have made serious moves to sign the winger, who performed well at the World Cup.

From Liverpool’s point of view, Somerville is an easy player to understand.

He is quick, direct and comfortable attacking defenders from the left, giving Andoni Iraola another explosive option in the final third.

The Reds have been linked with a number of wide forward signings, including Bradley Barcora and Pedro Neto, but Somerville could become a more realistic Premier League-based option if the price drops.

West Ham’s official stance is around £50m, but there are reports that relegation could ultimately force them to consider offers closer to £30m-40m.

If Man United focus on midfield and Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are still just monitoring the situation, Liverpool may have a chance to make a smart move before the race gets too crowded.

Reds shouldn’t overpay for an in-demand winger

Somerville is a great fit for Liverpool, but only at the right price.

He has the speed and confidence to suit Iraola’s attacking style and is already familiar with English football.

The concern is consistency. Somerville has talent, but £50m is a lot of money for a winger who still has a level to reach.

Liverpool should not pay West Ham’s full asking price just because their rivals are circling.

A deal in the region of £35m to £40m would start to look much more attractive.

Liverpool, who cost £50m, may be better off waiting for West Ham to soften their stance.
