  • Manchester United and Newcastle compete for huge contract for Nmecha
  • £103m Nmecha will solve Manchester United’s Ederson problem

The midfield merry-go-round is still going strong in the Premier League.

In fact, the momentum is accelerating, with Newcastle United looking to replace Sandro Tonali and Manchester United closing in on Ederson.

The Magpies have been reinvigorated by agreeing to sign young Ajax star Sean Stuhl and beginning contract negotiations with Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi, who enjoyed a fantastic World Cup.

But this is not the end for the Tyneside club. They will also face Manchester United in the big-money race to sign Felix Nmeka from Borussia Dortmund.

Football Fancast Verdict

reliability

Despite Germany’s disappointing tournament, Nmeka emerged as one of the breakout stars of the World Cup. And as Dortmund look to raise funds, Newcastle join Man United in pole position to sign him.

finances

As mentioned above, Dortmund are looking to raise funds in the summer and have set a hefty offer for Nmeka, worth the equivalent of €120m (approximately £130m).

insight

The midfielder is in the same mold as Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenbirch. He is a good ball progressor and ball winner and will partner Tonali at Newcastle and Ederson at Old Trafford.

impact

A big deal like this would certainly put an end to Newcastle’s recent turmoil, but a win for Manchester United would also end their pursuit of Alex Scott.

Both clubs would need to break their own transfer records to sign Nmeka this summer, but he has proven on the biggest stage that he is worth every penny.

Manchester United and Newcastle compete for huge contract for Nmecha

According to Bild, reported by Sport Witness, Man United and Newcastle have entered the race to sign Nmeka this summer.

Dortmund are clearly concerned about the interest, as they have set their offer at €120m (about £103m) and have begun their own search for a replacement.

The Premier League duo are reportedly leading the race to sign the German player, but it remains to be seen whether that interest translates into a formal offer.

Dortmund are in no hurry to sell, but would be happy to cash out once the price is met, allowing them to reinvest in their own new signing.

£103m Nmecha will solve Manchester United’s Ederson problem

Man United’s midfield rebuild has been an interesting one so far. The profile of the player they need is clear, with top targets such as Matheus Fernandes and Elliott Anderson missing out.

They must not suffer the same fate in the race to sign Nmeka. The Red Devils, who are looking to sign a quality out-of-possession player in Ederson, will be in trouble if they are unable to match the Brazilian with an expert ball progression player. Simply put, it will be Manuel Ugarte again.

Nmeka’s passing range was on full display at the World Cup, especially when he provided the assist for Deniz Undav’s winning goal against Ivory Coast in the group stage.

He chose a pass that only he could see and perfectly broke through the line at the goal and sent it to the front line. Give Benjamin Sesco the same service at Old Trafford and a goal will be inevitable.
