Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has reportedly decided he is open to leaving the club to play more first-team football as a deal with Ilan Meslier is finalized.

According to BBC Sport and others, the French shot-stopper is set to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium, but this is likely to put Kepa’s future in doubt.

There seems to be a lot of speculation as to what exactly this means for Arsenal’s goalkeeping options, with Kepa likely remaining the club’s second choice and Meslier potentially becoming their third choice.

However, Ben Jacobs has hinted in the post below that he is open to a move that could see Kepa leave the Gunners and be his first choice elsewhere…

“Arsenal have agreed to sign goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who is a free agent after leaving Leeds. There is still no guarantee that Kepa Arrizabalaga will stay. The Spanish keeper is ready to leave in search of a starting role,” Jacobs said on X (formerly Twitter).

Kepa could be back on the move after difficult spell at Arsenal

Kepa only joined Arsenal from Chelsea last summer, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if his stay in north London was short-lived.

The 31-year-old was never likely to play many games when he joined Mikel Arteta’s side, but he ended up starting against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

Kepa started in the other games in the competition and was apparently named as Arteta’s cup keeper, but he did not perform well in the 2-0 defeat against Man City at Wembley.

Few AFC supporters will be disappointed to see Kepa leave, and Meslier appears to be a suitable option to replace Kepa as the main keeper on the bench.
