Manchester United reignite interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson

According to a report in German outlet BILD (via Mirror), Manchester United have made “new contacts” regarding the possibility of signing the Dortmund defender.

The club hierarchy is ready to reignite the interest that had been smoldering before the tournament began.

According to reports, the Bundesliga side are not actively looking to lose the 28-year-old and plan to negotiate a contract renewal once his international duties are completed.

However, Dortmund will likely consider selling him if there is a bid in the region of €30m (approximately £25.6m). Initial exploratory negotiations are already underway.

United believe his ability to combine fitness with speed in one-on-one situations makes him perfectly suited to the demands of the Premier League.

Ryerson’s stock has skyrocketed following his impressive club days in Germany, where he established himself as a premier creator with an astonishing 15 assists from deep.

Ryerson’s performances on the international stage have once again put him on the radar of Europe’s elite clubs.

The full-back put in a “really outstanding” performance as Norway defied expectations to beat tournament favorites Brazil 2-1 in a dramatic World Cup last-16 clash.

Ryerson, who returned to the starting lineup early in the group stage after battling a thigh injury, played energetically for 62 minutes on Norway’s right flank.

He completely shut down Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior and consolidated his own half of the pitch, completing an impressive 93% of his passes.

Erling Haaland’s two late goals grabbed most of the headlines, but scouts were very impressed with Ryerson’s disciplined defensive display.

His contribution helped Norway reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time in its history, setting up a much-awaited close battle against England.
