Argentina took a 2-1 lead against Switzerland in extra time in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals thanks to a stunning goal from Julian Alvarez.
Argentina took the lead in the 10th minute with Alexis Mac Allister’s superb header from Lionel Messi’s corner kick, but Switzerland were forced back by Dan Ndoye.
Normally both teams would cancel each other out, but the world champion took the lead thanks to Alvarez’s incredible range attack.
Argentina will now protect that advantage going into the World Cup semi-finals against England.
Switzerland will be completely disappointed in the way the match has played out. They were in control after scoring the equalizer, but Briel Embolo’s red card put them completely behind.
