Chelsea are hoping to sign Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has performed very well for Porto and impressed for the Portuguese national team at the World Cup. PSG and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his development.

His contract has a release clause of £51 million, which Chelsea must pay to make the deal go through. According to a report in Correio da Manha newspaper, Chelsea are willing to pay £34 million for the goalkeeper. They believe he will be an upgrade over Robert Sanchez. Sanchez has been underwhelming since joining Chelsea and they are in desperate need of an upgrade.

Costa has shown his quality both at club and international level. He has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and will undoubtedly be a force for Chelsea if a deal is finalized. However, you must pay the asking price to close the deal. Other top clubs are also interested in signing the 26-year-old, meaning the Premier League side may need to accelerate their pursuit to win the race for his signature.

Costa will want to sort out his future quickly so he can focus on his football again. He is at the peak of his career and the opportunity to play in the Premier League would be exciting for him. Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and could offer him a platform to fight for big trophies. This move could be ideal for all parties.
