Tottenham consider €30m deal for highly-rated Belgian ace

Tottenham Hotspur are rumored to be interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Arthur Vermaelen.

The 21-year-old has attracted the attention of the London club, who have the funds to pay him around €30 million. According to a report from FussballDaten, the German club is open to selling him for the same amount of money this summer. Despite the midfielder being very talented, they believe his decision-making is not up to mark and he is still adjusting to the intensity of German football.

Multiple clubs are monitoring his situation, but it remains to be seen what the 21-year-old’s final fate will be.

It would be very surprising if Tottenham decided to make a move for him. They have already invested a lot of money in Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. They don’t need another defensive midfielder, but the 21-year-old will struggle to earn regular minutes at the London club.

Clubs in Türkiye and Spain are also monitoring his situation. It will be interesting to see if any of those clubs come forward with an acceptable offer. Vermaelen should consider joining a club where he can play regularly. Sitting on the bench at a Premier League club will have a negative impact on his development.

Playing for the biggest club in the world requires significant development and playing football regularly will be key to his development. Tottenham have improved their squad this summer, but they still need to improve their quality. It would be ideal for them to invest in their attacking team rather than signing a new midfielder. They are in dire need of quality strikers and wide players.
