Arsenal are preparing to ‘attack’ the situation in club-to-club negotiations with Aston Villa, and have reportedly almost agreed personal terms with Morgan Rodgers.

Fabrizio Romano said he provided important updates on the story in a post on his YouTube channel.

According to Romano in the video below, Arsenal are also closing in on Christos Tzoris and are eyeing an ambitious move for Rodgers, but it appears they are not done yet.

Romano has made it clear that Rodgers is Arsenal’s top target for the left-wing role, but the Premier League champions are also rumored to be signing Bradley Barcola.

According to Romano, who gave some interesting details about Rodgers’ future, it looks more likely that Barcola will move to Liverpool.

Arsenal move forward with Morgan Rodgers, but he could cost £130m

“There are no active negotiations for Bradley Barcola, and the player Arsenal would like to add as a new winger, according to my information, is still Morgan Rodgers,” Romano said.

“There are high-level discussions on the player’s side and there are no issues with terms of the contract. Most of the personal terms have been agreed, but we just need to clarify some details. And Arsenal are ready to attack. Arsenal are ready to negotiate for new winger Morgan Rodgers.”

“So it is expected that the matches between the clubs will start soon after that. So this is Morgan Rodgers, a player that Arsenal would like to add to their squad.”

Still, according to the Telegraph, signing Rodgers could potentially cost Arsenal a transfer fee of up to £130m, which could potentially be a big problem for Arsenal.

This is a club-record deal for the Gunners, surpassing their previous highest-paid signing, Declan Rice, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.

For those of you who have been following along, this information is actually not new. A few days ago we reported that Rodgers and Arsenal were close to agreeing a full agreement on personal terms.

One source even said, “They have already agreed in principle to a five-year contract.”

All in all, this seems like a very real possibility, as long as Villa are perhaps a little more realistic about their valuation.

Rodgers is undoubtedly a top talent and this is not an easy market, but £130m seems a bit high and one imagines that something more realistic will eventually be agreed.
