Bryson DeChambeau continues to garner attention for his actions both off and on the course after the first round of the British Open.

DeChambeau got off to a very strong start to the tournament, entering the second round in fourth place on the leaderboard with a 3-under 67.

However, the LIV Golf star continued his controversial dealings with the media after the opening round, coincidentally reminiscent of golf legend Tiger Woods.

As he did at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open, DeChambeau declined to speak to television or the press at Royal Birkdale on Thursday.

However, he agreed to an interview with R&A officials with pre-approved questions, in which he briefly analyzed his start to the tournament.

DeChambeau also shared the joy of playing with Scottie Scheffler, and that pairing was scheduled to continue Friday with Tyrrell Hatton.

Interestingly, this is by no means the first time a player has taken such a unique approach to the media.

Most notably, golf icon Woods refused to speak to the media before the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.

Instead, he answered questions from fans via Facebook and Twitter in a video on his website.

That was right after he finished T40 at the Masters. During that time, Woods was criticized for kicking the club after a poor tee shot on the par-3 16th hole of the second round.

Woods missed out on a spot at the Wells Fargo Championship, but DeChambeau will likely avoid that fate at the British Open Championship.

Of course, DeChambeau couldn’t avoid that fate in each of the past three majors this season.

He finished 6-over at the Masters, 7-over at the PGA Championship and 5-over at the U.S. Open.

The three missed cuts represented a disastrous lack of form on the big stage, and the American then acted badly off course by skipping media duties.

DeChambeau himself admits he still has a lot of golf left to play at Royal Birkdale, but it would take a monumental collapse to miss the cut again.
