Arsenal centre-back William Saliba will reportedly be out for several months, but it looks like he will not undergo surgery on his back injury.
The 25-year-old has been a hugely important player for the Gunners in recent years, helping them win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final last season.
Saliba also shined this summer with the French national team, reaching the World Cup semi-finals, but was suddenly forced to leave the club due to severe pain in the defeat to Spain.

According to L’Equipe, Arsenal and Saliba have decided not to undergo surgery, but the problem remains and is likely to keep him out until the start of the 2026-27 season.
As of now, there is no further concrete information, with Saliba expected to simply be out for “a few months”.

Arsenal certainly need to do something in the transfer market as Saliba’s absence will definitely be felt.
The France international is one of the best players in the world in his position and the likes of Cristian Mosquera, Julian Timber, Ben White, Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafioli could stand in alongside Gabriel Magalles, but it would be a significant drop in quality.

We are told that Arsenal are stepping up their search for Saliba’s replacement, with Ezri Konsa also on the Gunners’ agenda.
Whoever AFC ends up signing, they certainly cannot rely solely on their current squad to replace Saliba, unless it turns out he won’t be out for as long as currently expected.
It is hoped that there will be further clarity on this matter soon so that Arsenal can plan and act accordingly.
