The 2026 LIV golf season has four events scheduled: UK, New York, Indianapolis and the season finale, the Michigan State Team Championship. But that last event could be in jeopardy.
There were many reasons to be skeptical about the completion of the 2026 season, from Creeks Golf Club captain Martin Keimer believing it was highly unlikely the finale would take place as planned, to CEO Scott O’Neill refusing to guarantee the final four tournaments of the LIV season would be held, to Jon Rahm refusing to commit to a future with LIV Golf.

The future of LIV golf has been in question all year, but recent news has failed to allay fans’ skepticism about the league as a whole. Here’s what we know:
When are the final four LIV Golf events scheduled to take place?
The final four events of the LIV season are listed online as follows:
July 23rd-26th: JCB Golf & Country Club, UK
August 6th-9th: Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster, New York
August 20th-23rd: Club in Chatham Hills, Indianapolis
August 27th-30th: Team Championship at Club in Chatham Hills, Michigan
Martin Kaymer’s Skepticism
After attending Tuesday’s captain’s meeting, former world No. 1 Keimer told Today’s Golfer that he believes there is a “5 percent” chance that the team championship in Michigan will be held as scheduled. Keimer added that he has heard that the event in Indianapolis, scheduled for Aug. 20-23, could end up being a team event.

“Obviously we’re disappointed,” Kaymer said. “I actually heard on the Golf Channel yesterday that there was talk that Indianapolis could be a team event instead of Michigan. We don’t know. I think it would be a shame to see the individual event become even smaller.”
While this seems to put the events in Michigan at risk as well, it also (mostly) confirms what happened in Indianapolis. But Kaymer isn’t 100% sure.
“We know it’s most likely happening in Indianapolis,” he said. “Michigan State’s chances are very slim. That’s basically what we already knew.”
LIV Golf’s 2026 struggles
LIV Golf’s financial difficulties are well documented. Most recently, Mobii Systems Group Ltd. sued LIV Golf for failing to pay its bills and owed it more than $1 million in unpaid bills and lost revenue.

Prior to that, on April 30 of this year, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced that it would stop funding the league after this season.
In June, O’Neal told CNBC that he was trying to raise $300 million to keep LIV alive after this season. During that conversation, O’Neal was asked if the final four tournaments of the season would be held. He didn’t give a clear answer, only saying, “What I can guarantee you is that if you invest in this business, you will get a huge return.”
