  • Bruno Guimarães moves to Arsenal
  • Romano talks about Real Madrid’s plans

Manager Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Arsenal are interested in signing Bruno Guimarães, but has not commented on his relationship with Vinicius Junior.

It’s been an exciting 24 hours or so for Gunners supporters, as they’ve been linked to the club in what is likely the biggest deal in their history, and potentially one of the most high-profile and ambitious deals in Premier League history.

David Ornstein made a big bombshell yesterday afternoon when he reported to The Athletic that Arsenal are considering a move for Vini Junior, so fans will be desperate for more information and further updates.

Interestingly, however, Romano has made no mention of this at the time of writing, instead providing an update on Arsenal’s move to sign Newcastle midfielder Guimarães in his latest YouTube video.

Bruno Guimarães moves to Arsenal

Romano said: “Arsenal are expected to have Bruno Guimarães back within the next week. Arsenal want Bruno. Manager Mikel Arteta considers Bruno his top priority, so Arsenal will return to direct negotiations with Newcastle next week.”

“The player has agreed personal terms with Arsenal. In other words, Arsenal and Bruno Guimarães have come to an agreement. Mikel Arteta is pushing ahead with the signing of Bruno Guimarães as he considers Bruno Guimarães the perfect midfielder for Arsenal’s project.”

“But now Bruno is keen. Arsenal are ready, but it depends on an agreement with Newcastle. But Arsenal are not giving up. Arsenal are ready to go all out for Bruno Guimarães, so it will be an important moment for this negotiation.”

This would also be a very exciting signing to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad, but Arsenal fans will be keen to see Romano post on Vinicius as well.

Romano talks about Real Madrid’s plans

However, Romano reports that Real Madrid remain committed to signing Yann Diomande, who would be a logical replacement for Vinicius.

The talented young Ivorian international has shone for RB Leipzig and now appears to be Los Blancos’ top attacking target.

Vinicius only has one year left on his contract at the Bernabéu, so it could be that they are preparing his replacement, but it could also mean that Romano won’t post any significant updates on his relationship with Arsenal until the Diomande deal is completed.

Ornstein and Romano are two of the biggest names in football transfer news journalism, so it’s a bit unusual for one to publish such a big exclusive while the other doesn’t.

This will be a fascinating story to watch today…

It seems there is a minor confusion in the original headline about the teams involved in the trade.
