Best striker in the Premier League (2026/27)

The Premier League has a proud history of great strikers, perhaps the best of our time.

From Alan Shearer, the all-time top scorer, to current England captain Harry Kane and the legendary Thierry Henry, there is no better player.

But the great Erling Haaland is on the verge of breaking all these records and cementing his place as the best forward in the history of the English top flight.

The Norwegian is not there yet, but he is doing his best to reach the top of the pedestal. However, there is no doubt that he is the best in English football at the moment.

Who can match him? Well, we have compiled a list of the best strikers in the Premier League for the 2026/27 season.

Alexander Isaac – Liverpool

The story of the 2025 summer transfer window began with Alexander Isak making a belated move to Liverpool in a deal worth £125 million, the biggest deal in British history. He remains one of the best strikers in European football, but his stock has fallen significantly since then.

Due to a lack of fitness and a mid-season leg injury, he has hardly kicked a ball since moving to Anfield and has scored just three league goals throughout the 2025/26 campaign.

Still, the Swedish national team showed signs of life, scoring four goals and assisting at the World Cup. It was certainly not the time to underestimate a player who had scored 54 league goals in three seasons with Newcastle United.

Kai Havertz – Arsenal

Another player who suffered through injury last year, Havertz, has gone on to become one of the best centre-forwards in the area after joining Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta, who bought the attacking midfielder in his trade, has transformed him into a truly threatening attacking position, as he demonstrated with his powerful opener in May’s Champions League final. Arsenal will be spoiled for choice with him and Victor Gokeres up top.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace

Jean-Philippe Mateta has long been at the heart of everything that is good at Crystal Palace, overcoming a failed move to AC Milan in January to lead the Eagles to Conference League glory.

He has proven to be one of the best players in the division over the years, scoring 19 goals in 2023/24 and 17 in 2024/25, before scoring 12 goals in the last league game.

Benjamin Sesco – Manchester United

The Slovenian endured a slow start at Old Trafford but has bounced back to life under manager Michael Carrick as he waits to become a regular starter.

Sesco, who has had a deadly season in 2026, has so far finished his debut season in Manchester with 12 goals in all competitions, 11 of which have come in the Premier League, ranking him fourth in the division with per 90 goals.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Leeds

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a man reborn at Elland Road despite not being selected in England’s World Cup squad after leaving Everton last summer and signing for Leeds on a free transfer.

In his final two seasons at Goodison Park, he only scored 10 league goals, but comfortably surpassed that tally with 14 in 2025/26.

Will he stay healthy and perform this season?

Victor Gokeres – Arsenal

Like Sesko, Gökeres endured a really tough first half of the season, but bounced back in 2026.

Although the Swede did not lead the Gunners to the title, his 14 goals in the league and 21 in all competitions are impressive figures.

Yes, he won’t win any awards for style, but when a champion tries to defend his crown, content is the only thing that matters.

Igor Thiago – Brentford

Arguably the biggest surprise package of the 2025/26 season, Igor Thiago was sensational for Keith Andrews’ side Brentford.

The Bees lost Yoan Wissa and Brian Mbeumo last summer, but they did not miss out on the pair, thanks in large part to Thiago’s performance.

Only Haaland scored more goals in the Premier League than the Brazilian last season, and he scored 22 goals in the top flight to qualify for the World Cup.

Joao Pedro – Chelsea

Speaking of Brazil, Joao Pedro was arguably the best striker signed in this division last season, despite not being selected by Thiago in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

He has been in great form so far in 2026, particularly scoring a hat-trick against Aston Villa in early March and finishing the season with a total of 15 league goals.

He leads the line brilliantly but can also play a little deeper. He’s the complete package, not only scoring goals but contributing to his teammates. This was a fantastic signing by the Stamford Bridge transfer chief.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s Mr. Consistent Ollie Watkins has been a force to be reckoned with at Premier League level for a long time, ever since his arrival from Brentford in 2020.

Throughout his six-year spell at Villa Park, the Englishman has scored double figures in league goals every season, and has scored 15 or more goals in each of the last four seasons.

Will the time come for him to finally break the 20-goal mark?

Erling Haaland – Manchester City

Who else is there? There is no better player in Premier League football today than Haaland. Despite scoring 27 goals in the 2025/26 season, his bizarre form has gone largely unnoticed.

The former Borussia Dortmund man might even be the best goalscorer we’ve seen on these shores, a point only strengthened by a stunning summer in Norway, a surprise package in North America.

Josep Guardiola’s era may be over at the Etihad, but Erling Haaland’s may just be beginning…
