Manchester City midfielder Rodri could be closing in on a €50 million move to Real Madrid, according to the latest reports.

According to AS, Real are confident of signing him for between 40 and 50 million euros, despite being one of the best players in the world and playing a very important role in the Man City team.

The headline of their report also states that a solution could be found within 24 hours, and things appear to be moving quickly regarding this potential agreement.

What signing Rodri means for Real Madrid

We know that Real Madrid have frequently spent big on ‘galacticos’ – global superstars and big names who promise immediate success.

Rodri certainly fits into that category, and the 30-year-old could arrive in the Spanish capital as a World Cup winner representing his country.

Madrid’s new manager Jose Mourinho also wants to have experienced winners in his squad, and bringing Rodri in alongside recent arrivals such as Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries makes a lot of sense.

Rodri may not be the best long-term addition to Los Blancos’ squad, but he would add enough quality to be an upgrade over somewhat unstable players such as Aurelien Choameny and Eduardo Camavinga.

Rodri’s Manchester City legacy

Rodri enjoyed huge success during his seven seasons in Manchester and will undoubtedly leave Man City as a club legend and one of the greatest figures in Premier League history.

The former Atlético Madrid and Villarreal player scored 28 goals in 298 appearances for City, winning four Premier League titles, the Champions League and a number of other major accolades.

Rodri’s style of play is key to manager Josep Guardiola’s tactical scheme at City, and while he will be difficult to replace, Elliott Anderson, who joined this summer from Nottingham Forest, looks like a good option for the role.
