The Indiana Pacers will have their key defender, Aaron Nesmith, available for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. Coach Rick Carlisle mentioned on Monday that Nesmith’s right ankle sprain was painful, making his participation a game-time decision, but later confirmed in a pre-game press conference that Nesmith would indeed play. Nesmith played a crucial defensive role against Indiana’s All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, and after he exited Game 3 in the third quarter, the Pacers lost a significant lead and eventually fell 106-100. Although Nesmith returned to the game, he didn’t appear to perform at full strength. The Pacers currently lead the series 2-1. Carlisle noted, “He’s doing better than I expected,” adding that playing time would be monitored closely during the game. Nesmith sustained his injury after landing awkwardly following a pass he made to the corner. He had a standout performance in Game 1, scoring a playoff career-high 30 points and setting a Pacers postseason record with eight three-pointers.

Fan Take: Aaron Nesmith’s return is crucial for the Pacers as his defensive presence and scoring ability can significantly impact the outcome of this tightly contested series. For basketball fans, his resilience and performance in high-stakes games highlight the intense physicality and drama that make the playoffs so thrilling to watch.
