Newly released body camera footage from Friday reveals events following the arrest of former UFC standout Dustin Poirier.
On June 21, Poirier, 37, was taken into custody at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, facing a misdemeanor charge of public drunkenness after reportedly becoming agitated and verbally confrontational with airline staff who refused him boarding. Poirier has since expressed remorse for his behavior and acknowledged that he is seeking help for issues related to alcohol.
Earlier footage captured the initial encounter, where Poirier initially challenged the responding officer to a fight before ultimately being handcuffed. The latest video, shared by YouTube channel Mark Fighting, portrays what happened afterward during his transport and booking process.
Right after being arrested, Poirier appeared calm as he recounted his prior legal history to officers while moving from the airport to a transport vehicle. However, his frustration grew upon arrival at the City of Atlanta airport police office. When an officer warned him that the footage would be publicly seen, Poirier defiantly replied, “Man, f*ck them, too.”
Shortly after, Poirier again challenged the officers to a one-on-one fight, saying, “Y’all free me and we can go 1-on-1. Let’s go 1-on-1. Me and you. Let’s go. Let’s see what happens.” The video concludes as officers successfully move him to a detention center for booking.
Poirier retired from professional fighting in 2025 and has since opened up about his difficulties staying busy and engaged, which contributed to his turn to alcohol. Throughout his career, he was regarded as a role model in the sport, admired for both his charitable efforts and respectful demeanor inside and outside the octagon. Poirier fought in the UFC 32 times, earning 15 performance bonuses and an interim lightweight championship.
