During a challenging qualifying session at WWT Raceway (Gateway), Joey Logano secured the pole position by driving his No. 22 Team Penske Ford to a fastest lap time of 32.817 seconds. This outstanding effort topped the charts by a significant 0.276 seconds ahead of Kyle Larson in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, marking the largest margin of victory for a pole position in any NASCAR Cup qualifying since Kyle Busch’s 0.277-second lead over Denny Hamlin at Chicagoland in 2017.

Early in the session, Connor Zilisch set the initial pace, but Zane Smith overcame him by mid-session with a 33.420-second lap. Several drivers encountered difficulties on the track, such as Shane van Gisbergen and Michael McDowell, who had significant slides that compromised their times. Alex Bowman surged to the top as the faster cars hit the track later, while Josh Berry narrowly missed securing the fastest lap due to a close call in turns 1 and 2. Other drivers, including William Byron and Ryan Preece, lost time after slipping in turn 4. Despite the tricky conditions, surprisingly no crashes occurred.
Denny Hamlin briefly claimed the fastest time, but Chase Elliott soon surpassed him, only to be overtaken by Carson Hocevar who managed a pole pace despite high lines in turns 1 and 2. Ultimately, Team Penske dominated, with Logano delivering an exceptional lap more than four-tenths faster than the previous best. Neither his teammate Ryan Blaney nor Larson could challenge his pace, with Larson coming closest at just under three-tenths behind Logano’s time.
