Rey Mysterio has expressed openness to another run as a world champion if WWE offers him the opportunity. In an interview with Malcolm Muscle, Mysterio stated, “Never say never. It’s been quite some time since Mysterio last held a major title. He captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 in 2006 in a triple threat match against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton, shortly after Eddie Guerrero’s passing, holding the belt until July of that year. His other world title reign came on the July 25, 2011 episode of Raw, when he defeated The Miz for the vacant WWE Championship, only to lose it to John Cena later that night.

With the official referee out, interference from JD McDonagh, Omos, and Liv Morgan occurred as they tried to help Dominik retain. Americano executed a diving headbutt, but with no referee present, Mysterio, acting as a stand-in official, counted the pinfall, ending Dominik’s championship reign at 367 days on his fourth defense.
The two nights showcased a compelling narrative: on Friday, Dominik’s actions cost his father the match, and on Sunday, Mysterio returned, despite his injury, to count Dominik out of the title. Meanwhile, Mysterio’s authority at AAA remains intact, Omos is reinstated per the match stipulation, and Mysterio has yet to comment publicly on his condition.
Other highlights from night two included title changes with La Catalina dethroning Flammer as Reina de Reinas Champion and the Wagner Brothers capturing the AAA World Tag Team Championship from the War Raiders in an open challenge. Rey Fenix successfully defended the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship in a four-way contest.
Having debuted in Mexico at the age of 14 and wrestling for over 35 years, Mysterio’s legacy is firmly established. Whether WWE will present him a world title opportunity again remains uncertain, as his next televised WWE appearance has yet to be announced.
