A recurring challenge for Coach Pope’s teams has been dealing with injuries. KSR’s Jack Pilgrim reports that junior wing Trent Noah has aggravated the hamstring injury that first affected him earlier this summer.
Noah initially strained the hamstring in July, which Mark Pope had downplayed as a minor issue. However, Noah eventually missed Kentucky’s last open practice of the summer. This new setback is anticipated to sideline Noah for the preseason and might extend into the exhibition games.
This adds to the growing list of injury concerns for the Wildcats, a team already coping with multiple health issues both this offseason and throughout Pope’s tenure.
Kam Williams missed summer workouts due to a second surgery on the foot he injured last season, though Pope remains optimistic about his availability for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Franck Kepnang’s summer was limited as Kentucky carefully managed his recovery from previous leg injuries.
More recently, star transfer Milan Momcilovic suffered a jammed index finger on his shooting hand. Initial worries about a fracture were alleviated after further testing, and he is expected to return by the start of fall practice, though he remains sidelined for now.
Kentucky still has some time before official games begin, but staying healthy is rapidly becoming a critical concern in Lexington.
