Senna Agius’ move to Tech3 KTM for the next MotoGP season has finalized the full lineup of 22 riders for the 2027 grid. This upcoming season introduces significant changes, including smaller 850cc engines and a switch from Michelin to Pirelli as the sole tire provider.
Among the four rookies stepping into the premier class, all have prior experience with Pirelli tires—either through Moto2 or, in Nicolo Bulega’s case, WorldSBK. Bulega’s familiarity with Pirelli and his extensive testing on Ducati’s 850cc prototype made reigning champion Marc Marquez name him the “most interesting” arrival for 2027.
Marquez, who is scheduled to test Ducati’s new 850cc/Pirelli bike again at the Red Bull Ring, said, “For me, it’s Bulega. He’s already testing, understands the tires, and I believe he will be quick. He’s a very strong rider.” Meanwhile, Jorge Martin, currently tied with Marquez at the top of this year’s championship standings, expressed enthusiasm about the new factory Ducati pair, Marquez and Pedro Acosta, noting, “I’m really looking forward to seeing these two together because they both have a lot of charisma.”
Acosta also praised the rookies transitioning from Moto2, saying, “Like Marc said, Bulega will be a great addition. It will be interesting to see how the new Moto2 riders handle the tires. I think the bikes will be easier to ride compared to the current ones, so it will be exciting to see how they adapt to the premier class.”
All 2027 MotoGP riders will come together for the first time at the Valencia post-season test on December 1.
