Floyd Samba called his debut for Manchester City “mind-blowing” after scoring twice to help his team defeat Norwich City, advancing to the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
Alongside Geronimo Rulli and Allan, who also made their first appearances, the trio quickly left their mark during a dominant 5-0 win against the Canaries.
Maresca’s squad took the lead in the 29th minute when Samba headed the ball into the bottom-left corner, following a precise delivery from Allan.
Rayan Cherki increased City’s lead three minutes later, finishing off a setup by Ayyoub Bouaddi, and the home side extended their advantage after the halftime break.
Allan celebrated his debut with a spectacular left-foot shot, before Samba scored his second in the 54th minute, taking advantage of Norwich’s errors in defense.
Ryan McAidoo rounded off the scoring in the 90th minute, but the spotlight shone on Samba, who made the most of his two shots on goal.
“Before the game, I knew I’d get a chance to play with the first team – to debut like this is truly mind-blowing,” Samba shared with BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I was in disbelief, but this is just the start; my career has a lot in store. This was an incredible debut, and I couldn’t be happier right now.

“Making my senior debut comes with high expectations – you must match the intensity and skill level, and I believe I did just that.
“Moving from the under-21s to first-team training is a significant leap – the sessions are tougher, requiring more physical effort and focus.

City has now won 19 consecutive EFL Cup matches against teams from lower leagues, since their penalty loss to Brighton in the 2008-09 second round.
Fabian Hurzeler’s team will be their next opponent, having come back from a two-goal deficit to eliminate rivals Manchester United on Wednesday.
