Enea Bastianini’s KTM Departure Spurs Two Potential Moves — But Rider Shuffles Hold the Key

Italian reports suggest that if Enea Bastianini decides to leave KTM, he has two possible paths for the 2026 season. After losing his factory Ducati ride, Bastianini joined Tech3 KTM but has faced a tough season, with his best result being seventh place at the American Grand Prix. He recently described his experience at Silverstone as the “worst weekend” of his career.

According to Sky Italia, Bastianini’s potential destinations could be either Pramac Yamaha or the Factory Aprilia team. However, his future largely hinges on what happens with his competitors. For example, Toprak Razgatlioglu is still some way from finalizing a deal with Pramac Yamaha. That satellite team is reportedly leaning towards retaining current riders Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, with Miller securing a spot by finishing seventh at Silverstone.

Bastianini must await Pramac’s decisions about their lineup and will also need to keep an eye on KTM’s plans. Financial issues at the manufacturers are easing after a substantial deal with Bajaj Auto, but their racing future remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Bastianini’s potential move to Aprilia depends on the uncertain status of Jorge Martin, who has hinted at activating clauses that could allow him to leave in 2026. Martin’s unexpected comments came after a strong UK MotoGP performance by Marco Bezzecchi.

Aprilia’s CEO, Massimo Rivola, insists that they are working to resolve issues with their star rider, suggesting that Bastianini’s exit is not guaranteed. At the moment, Bastianini is not a major figure in the rider market. His contract with Tech3 KTM was described as “multiple years” when he signed. In 2022, he won a Grand Prix and finished second overall behind champion Pecco Bagnaia, but he is currently struggling to get comfortable on the KTM bike, as evidenced by his poor Silverstone performance.

Fan Take: This potential reshuffling is significant for racing fans because it could drastically change the competitive dynamics in MotoGP. Bastianini’s move might open opportunities for fresh talent and strategic team shifts, ultimately enhancing the excitement and unpredictability of the sport.
