Who should you start or bench? To help with lineup decisions and to avoid inserting a player who won’t suit up, we’ll track fantasy-impacting injury updates and official inactive lists as teams post them. Official inactives typically begin to be released about 90 minutes before kickoff — roughly 11:30 a.m. ET for early games and 2:30 p.m. ET for late-afternoon contests — so refresh often for the latest updates.
Biggest concerns heading into Week 2
Players with early kickoffs
– Zay Flowers, WR, Ravens (hamstring): Flowers exited Week 1 with a hamstring issue and missed the first two practices this week. He did practice Friday but is listed as doubtful. If he plays there’s a risk he could leave the game early; if he’s out, Rashod Bateman becomes Lamar Jackson’s top receiving option and retains upside in fantasy lineups. Mark Andrews remains a start at tight end. Streaming/fill-in options to consider include Jalen Coker, Caleb Douglas, Devaughn Vele and DeMario Douglas (sleeper).
– Joe Burrow, QB, Bengals (back): Burrow is dealing with back soreness and is listed questionable but is expected to start; he’s said it would be “ridiculous” if he missed Week 2. Despite a tough matchup with Houston, he remains a fantasy QB1 for most managers. If you want to avoid the matchup, Jaxson Dart and Brock Purdy are possible alternatives for those who roster them.
– TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots (ankle): After missing Week 1, Henderson returned to practice and reports say he’s “ready to go.” He’ll split carries with Rhamondre Stevenson but offers more explosiveness and upside, making him preferable over several lower-tier RBs you might be considering.
– Jalen Coker, WR, Panthers (ankle): Coker was limited earlier in the week but logged a full practice Friday and has been removed from the report, so he will play. He trended as a high-usage receiver in Week 1 (nine targets, 138 yards, a score) and is a high-upside WR3 you can feel comfortable starting over some established names.
– Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Steelers (foot): Pittman missed practice all week and is questionable. If he can’t go, DK Metcalf will likely see extra volume; if Pittman plays he could face heavy coverage and might be a sit. Consider starting Coker, Alec Pierce or Stefon Diggs instead.
– Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints (knee): Kamara has looked good in practice and the coach expects him to play. He’s a flex option with PPR appeal but carries workload uncertainty; his presence could cut into Travis Etienne Jr.’s target share.
Players with later kickoffs
– Brock Bowers, TE, Raiders (knee): Bowers rejoined practice Friday after meniscus surgery but is still doubtful for Week 2. If he’s out, Dalton Schultz, Juwan Johnson and Michael Mayer are plausible replacements; Mayer led the team in targets last week.
– Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers (ribs): McConkey didn’t practice until Friday after leaving Week 1 early and is questionable but trending toward being available. If he sits, Quentin Johnston would see a boost in opportunity. Other streaming options this week include Coker, Caleb and DeMario Douglas, Devaughn Vele and Dontayvion Wicks.
– Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jaguars (shoulder): Thomas was upgraded to full Friday and removed from the report, but he faces a tough secondary in Denver and may draw Pat Surtain II. With just three targets in Week 1, his floor is low; consider alternatives like Stefon Diggs, Jalen Coker, Quentin Johnston or Jordan Addison.
– George Kittle, TE, 49ers (Achilles): Kittle was limited earlier but practiced fully Friday and is active for Week 2. He played only 47% of snaps and saw five targets last week as he continues to work back from a serious injury, so expect usage to ramp up slowly.
– Kaelon Black, RB, 49ers (groin): The rookie was added to the injury report late and was limited Friday; he’s questionable. That likely means Jordan James will be Christian McCaffrey’s primary backup this week and could translate into more touches for CMC.
Ruled out before Sunday
– Nico Collins, WR, Texans (hamstring): Collins missed practice with a hamstring issue and has been ruled out. Consider streaming options like Jalen Coker, Caleb Douglas, Devaughn Vele and DeMario Douglas. For Houston specifically, Kayshon Boutte and Dalton Schultz should see the biggest volume bumps; Schultz projects as a TE1, while Boutte is a big-play, boom-or-bust FLEX.
– A.J. Brown, WR, Patriots (ankle): Brown was placed on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain that could cost him around six weeks, and he’ll likely need time to ease back in when he returns. Fantasy managers must find longer-term replacements while he’s sidelined.
– Kyler Murray, QB, Vikings (concussion): Murray is out for Week 2, which is unfortunate given a favorable matchup. Carson Wentz is the top streaming option this week and is someone I’d prefer over Baker Mayfield, Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud and Daniel Jones.
– Jordan Mason, RB, Vikings (thumb): Mason was placed on IR with a fractured thumb and will miss at least four games. Aaron Jones Sr. should inherit the bulk of the backfield workload and is in the RB2 range until Mason returns.
– Sam Darnold, QB, Seahawks (glute): Darnold won’t play in Week 2 versus Arizona. He wasn’t placed on IR, so the Seahawks expect a quicker return; streamers to consider this week include Malik Willis, Tyler Shough and Carson Wentz.
– Michael Penix Jr., QB, Falcons (knee): Penix is out for Week 2. Tua Tagovailoa is doubtful with his oblique issue, and Cooper Rush is expected to start if Tua can’t go. Outside of Bijan Robinson, it’s hard to trust many Falcons pass-catchers; consider playing receivers like Christian Watson, Terry McLaurin, Tetairoa McMillan or Mike Evans, while Kyle Pitts is a sit after a quiet Week 1.
– De’Zhaun Stribling, WR, 49ers (ankle): Stribling suffered a serious ankle injury requiring surgery and has been placed on IR, possibly missing up to 10 weeks. He can be dropped in leagues without IR spots; Demarcus Robinson should see the most consistent snaps in Stribling’s absence.
– Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, Ravens (wrist): Lane fractured his wrist and was placed on IR, sidelining him at least four weeks. Rashod Bateman should pick up additional snaps and looks to be the Ravens’ secondary receiver while Lane is out.
– Chig Okonkwo, TE, Commanders (hamstring): Okonkwo is out with a hamstring injury after gaining sleeper buzz. Tight end streaming options to target instead include Dalton Schultz, Michael Mayer and Juwan Johnson.
Fan Take: Injuries and inactives reshape both fantasy matchups and the NFL’s weekly narratives, creating opportunities for lesser-known players to break out and altering how coaches game-plan. For fans, these developments keep the season unpredictable and highlight the depth and resilience required across rosters.
