Ancelotti Drops Neymar from Brazil’s World Cup Qualifying Squad: A Bold Move!

Carlo Ancelotti’s debut as the head coach of Brazil features a commitment to prioritize team performance over individual talent, particularly regarding Neymar. In a crowded press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Ancelotti was honored by Brazil’s last two World Cup-winning coaches, Carlos Alberto Parreira and Luiz Felipe Scolari, who welcomed him to the role.

Scolari presented Ancelotti with the national team jersey, marking a significant moment as he becomes the first foreign coach to lead Brazil since the start of the century. Ancelotti’s contract extends through to the 2026 World Cup, with his first games coming up against Ecuador and Paraguay during the qualifiers.

While Neymar has just returned to Santos from a muscle injury, Ancelotti noted that this came too late for the qualifiers. "Sadly, numerous players have been affected by injuries and can’t join the national team, including Neymar," he remarked, emphasizing Brazil’s depth of talent. He made it clear that he spoke to Neymar about the team’s needs moving forward into the World Cup.

Additionally, the coach expressed his confidence in Vinicius Jr., stating that he believes Vinicius will flourish under his guidance despite facing criticism for not replicating his club form on the international stage. "I’m confident Vinicius will show his best self for the national team," Ancelotti said humorously referring to Vinicius’s ongoing adaptation.

Another key player, Casemiro, has been recalled to the squad after a substantial break, with Ancelotti stressing the importance of players with charisma and talent. He acknowledged the modern game’s demand for attitude and commitment, qualities he associates with Casemiro.
