Fasig-Tipton has announced a catalog of 239 entries for its Eastern Fall Yearlings Sale, scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, starting at 11 a.m. The auction will take place at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland, with additional entries being accepted up until the sale begins.
Previously known as the Midlantic Fall Yearlings sale since 2012, the event is reverting to its original name, Eastern Fall Yearlings. This change coincides with a new format designed to highlight the Eastern region and its distinctive state-bred and state-certified programs. Paget Bennett, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Director of Sales, emphasized the goal of showcasing the East’s rich racing culture and its exciting opportunities, noting recent developments such as a new racetrack at Belmont, the upcoming Pimlico track, and expanding programs at Colonial, which complement other successful regional initiatives.
The catalog is structured to give each state-bred program its own dedicated section, starting with yearlings bred outside the Eastern region (such as Kentucky, Florida, and Canada), followed by separate sections for Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Each section is introduced with pages outlining the specifics of their breeding and racing incentive programs, including information for Delaware-certified, Virginia-certified, West Virginia-certified programs, and Maryland Million.
Bennett expressed satisfaction with the slightly larger catalog and the strong presence of quality sires. This year’s sale will take place three weeks later than usual, on the Tuesday after Maryland Million Day at Laurel Park, helping to link the auction with one of the region’s most popular racing events and providing buyers with a later shopping window.
Eastern Fall Yearlings has a notable reputation for producing top-quality runners nationwide, with recent graded stakes winners like Crazy Mason, Grammy Girl, Kappa Kappa, and Trendsetter among its alumni. The catalog is now available online, through the Equineline sales catalog app, and in print via Fasig-Tipton offices.
Additionally, Fasig-Tipton has set the dates for the 2027 Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, which will take place May 24-25 in Timonium, shortly after the Preakness Stakes. The accompanying under tack show is scheduled for May 18-20.
