Man’s Island TT Qualifying on Thursday Canceled: What You Need to Know

On Thursday evening, the course clerk canceled the 2025 Man TT Island qualifying round due to poor weather conditions on the island.

The 2025 Man TT schedule has already been disrupted by bad weather, with Monday’s free practice limited to just one speed control lap for newcomers. Although some runs occurred on Tuesday under uncertain weather, proper timed qualifying did not take place until Wednesday evening. Thursday evening was initially set for continued qualifying across all five classes, with organizers hopeful for an early afternoon session as weather forecasts showed unexpected improvement.

However, shortly after 4 pm GMT, the course clerk announced the cancellation of Thursday’s qualifying session. A revised schedule for Friday was released, with emergency road closures planned for evening sessions. Qualifying will now begin on Friday at 1 pm and continue in the evening from 6:30 pm, ending before the roads reopen at 4:40 pm.

A brief statement from TT officials confirmed the cancellation of Thursday’s qualifying due to adverse weather. Honda rider Dean Harrison led the Thursday qualifying, clocking an impressive 133.069 mph on the superbike — the fastest lap ever recorded in the first qualifying session in TT history.

Davy Todd topped the Superstock rankings, while 29-time TT winner Michael Dunlop led the Super Sports times on a Ducati. Rob Hodson posted the fastest time in Supervin, and Ryan and Calm Crowe achieved a standing start of 118 mph in the sidecar class, which has had only one lap this week due to limited sessions and weather.

Qualifying is set to conclude on Friday, with races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Fan Take: Weather disruptions like these highlight the unpredictable challenges of TT racing, testing riders’ adaptability and resilience. The record-breaking speed by Dean Harrison also signals an exciting new chapter for fans, promising thrilling competition despite the delays.
