AJ Will Win Stables’ Barbadian Runner is the favorite among six horses competing in the $200,000 Battery Park Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday. The 1⅛-mile race for horses aged three and older is scheduled as the sixth event, with an estimated post time of 3:26 p.m.
The 4-year-old Barbados-bred colt, trained by Henry Walters, most recently finished fifth in the $1 million Grade 2 Charles Town Classic on August 28. Before that, he placed second in the $100,000 Yorktown Stakes at Colonial Downs on July 25. At Delaware Park, Barbadian Runner boasts two second-place finishes from as many starts, including a runner-up effort in the Delaware Derby. His overall career record stands at nine wins, eight seconds, and four thirds, accumulating earnings of $980,250.
Trainer Henry Walters shared, “He’s coming into this race in peak condition. He bounced back well after the Charles Town Classic, which was a tough, hard-fought race. I’m very lucky to have such a talented and consistent horse. This race suits him perfectly, and it fits well with his ultimate goal—the Maryland Million.”
