Jose Mourinho emphasizes the importance of trust between players and coaches in order to maximize a team’s potential as he aims to restore Real Madrid’s former glory.

“There are certain non-negotiable rules. If the team meets at 9 a.m., that applies to everyone. Being late, even by a superstar, is unacceptable.
“However, I also believe in giving players the freedom to showcase their skills.”
Last season, Real Madrid began with Xabi Alonso as head coach, but he was dismissed in January and was succeeded by Alvaro Arbeloa, who left after the 2025-26 campaign, prompting the club to seek a familiar face to challenge Barcelona’s hegemony.
During his previous tenure from 2010 to 2013, Mourinho secured one LaLiga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Supercopa de España.
“After two seasons that didn’t yield the best results for the world’s biggest club, along with some disconnect with the fans, the club reached out to me,” he remarked.
“They expressed that they knew me, I knew them, and understood the club’s culture.
‘We need your expertise to rebuild and initiate a new, prosperous decade for the club.’
