Chicago Sky fans have reacted enthusiastically as their team secured its first win of the 2025 WNBA season. In a thrilling game at Wintra Store Arena, Chicago narrowly defeated the Dallas Wings 97–92. The lead swung back and forth throughout the match, with Dallas holding a 73–68 advantage entering the fourth quarter. With just over two minutes left, Arike Ogunbowale sank a crucial three-pointer, pushing Dallas ahead 92–91. However, Chicago rallied, finishing strong with an unbroken 6–0 run to claim victory.

This win ended a four-game losing streak, providing a significant morale boost for both the team and its supporters. Chicago Sky’s official X (formerly Twitter) account celebrated the milestone online. Kamilla Cardoso was the standout player with 23 points on nine of thirteen shooting, along with eight rebounds, assists, and steals. Ariel Atkins contributed 17 points, five rebounds, and six assists, while Kia Nurse added eight points. Angel Reese was instrumental in defense and playmaking, recording six points, nine rebounds, and five assists, and setting a WNBA record as the fastest player to reach 200 offensive rebounds.

Veteran Courtney Vandersloot energized the team with 13 points, nine assists, and four steals, becoming the Sky’s all-time leading scorer—surpassing Ally Quigley—and holding franchise records in several categories. Off the bench, Rebecca Allen made an impact with 13 points in 23 minutes, sparking calls for her to join the starting lineup.

On Dallas’ side, Ogunbowale put on an impressive performance with 37 points on 14-of-25 shooting, including six three-pointers. Paige Bueckers added 15 points, five rebounds, and eight assists, while Dijonai Carrington and Myisha Hines-Allen contributed 15 and 10 points respectively. Despite their efforts, the Wings fell back into the losing column after ending their own four-game skid earlier.

As the final buzzer sounded, social media buzzed with excitement over Chicago’s achievements, especially highlighting the record-breaking milestones of Angel Reese and Courtney Vandersloot. The team now looks ahead to a rematch against Dallas on May 31st, aiming to capitalize on this momentum.

Will Chicago maintain this winning streak, or was it a one-time triumph? The answer awaits in their next matchup.

Fan Take: This victory represents more than just a win; it signals that Chicago Sky is ready to be a serious contender this season. For WNBA fans, moments like these highlight the league’s growing competitiveness and the thrilling talent that continues to elevate women’s basketball.
