Chelsea may face a setback as Lee Carsley has announced that Jamie Gittens is returning to the club for treatment following an injury sustained while playing for England Under-21s.
The winger left the field due to an apparent ankle injury during England’s 4-2 victory over Kazakhstan in the European Championship qualifiers.
Gittens was substituted in the 39th minute and was later seen using crutches. He has already been ruled out of the team’s last two qualifying matches.
Head coach Lee Carsley noted that Gittens is back with Chelsea, as they prefer not to take chances with the young player’s health.
“Jamie received a blow to his ankle. We never take any risks,” Carsley stated to The Sun.

“Considering their age, we don’t keep them in the camp to assess their conditions. He will go back.”
Since Xabi Alonso took charge, Gittens has featured in just two matches for Chelsea, both in the EFL Cup, with only one as a starter.
His time with Chelsea has been limited since joining from Borussia Dortmund at the start of the previous season, making only 29 appearances and scoring once.
The specifics of Gittens’ injury remain unknown, with Chelsea’s next match scheduled against Bournemouth on October 10.
Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer enthusiasts as it highlights the challenges young talents face in their careers, especially when they are sidelined by injuries. Gittens’ situation emphasizes the need for clubs to prioritize player health, which can ultimately shape the future of the team and the sport as a whole.
